Privacy Policy

GiftRove is a gift-guide website. This page describes, in plain language, everything we collect about a visit to this site, why, and for how long.
What we collect
We collect three things, and nothing else:
- Session and pageview data — which pages were visited, in what order, and which channel brought you here (search, a direct link, or one of the async channels we publish to), so we can tell whether a page is helping anyone find it.
- Outbound affiliate clicks — that a link to Amazon was clicked, and from which page, so we can tell whether a guide is actually useful rather than just published.
- A persistent anonymous identifier, stored in your browser, so that a return visit can be recognized as the same visitor rather than counted as a new one. This identifier is not tied to your name, email address, or any other information you might type anywhere — we don't have an account system, and this site never asks you to type anything about yourself. It is still personal data under some privacy laws (including the CCPA), which is why it's named here explicitly rather than glossed over.
We do not collect your name, email address, physical address, or any information about people you might buy gifts for. There is no account system on this site.
How we collect it
Analytics run on Umami, a self-hosted, open-source analytics platform — not a third-party advertising or tracking service. We operate it ourselves, served from our own subdomain, not a vendor's — your browser never talks to any analytics or advertising company's servers when you visit this site. There are no third-party advertising trackers or tracking pixels anywhere on GiftRove.
How long we keep it
Because this site has no accounts, every visit is anonymous by default. Anonymous session data is kept for 13 monthsand then deleted automatically. That window is chosen so we can tell whether a visitor returns across a full year of gift-giving occasions (birthdays, holidays, and the like) plus a month of margin — not to hold on to it any longer than answers that question.
What we don't do
- We do not sell your information to anyone, for any reason.
- We do not share it with third parties, except where required to operate the site itself (our hosting and DNS provider, Cloudflare, which processes standard connection logs to serve the site at all — this is true of essentially every website on the internet).
- We do not use it for advertising, targeting, or profiling.
- We do not use it to build a personalized recommendation model.
Your rights
If you're a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you the right to know what's collected about you and to request its deletion. If you're a Texas resident, the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA) gives you similar rights. Because we collect no information that identifies you personally, and because we don't sell data or use it for targeted advertising, most of what these laws exist to stop is already not happening here — but if you want to ask what's associated with your anonymous identifier, or ask that it be deleted, email privacy@giftrove.guide.
Changes to this policy
If what we collect or how long we keep it changes, this page changes with it, and the "last updated" date above will move. We won't quietly start collecting more than what's described here.
